During the chat, the user mentioned that they would like to see the Dynamic Island feature on the upcoming Redmi K60 series smartphone. To one of the users, Webbing replied: “Do they really need Smart Island”? This also gives us an indicator that Xiaomi may end up calling the feature – if it actually incorporates it – Smart Island. Shortly after the launch of the iPhone 14 series, a few developers showed off what this feature might look like on Xiaomi phones. If history goes on, chances are Xiaomi – along with a few others – could end up jumping into the ‘Island’ bandwagon.
Not the first time
This won’t be the first time other smartphone brands – especially Xiaomi – have taken ‘inspiration’ from Apple and introduced new features or elements in their devices. When in 2017 Apple introduced the iPhone X with a notch, there seemed to be a race to see who could track it down with a similar feature. Xiaomi has also launched a phone with a notch and it looks very similar to the iPhone X.
If Dynamic Islands – or Smart Island or whatever Xiaomi names it – appear on Xiaomi phones, they will also look quite similar to the iPhone 14 Pro. While it’s all speculation at this point, there have been more than a few hints suggesting that it’s inevitable for Xiaomi to include a Dynamic Island-like feature on its smartphones.
