WPL Auction: Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana among 24 players with the highest base price of Rs 50 lakh | Cricket news

NEW DELHI: Team India Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and the winning captain of the World Cup U19 T20 Shafali Verma among the few Indians signed up at the top of Rs 50 lakh for the player auction of the inaugural edition of Women’s soccer tournament. 24 players selected to be registered in the top bracket
The auction will see a total of 409 cricketers take part in the auction at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai on February 13. The list was reduced to 409 players after it was announced. A total of 1525 players registered for the auction, BCCI said in a press release.
“The first edition of the Women’s Premier League will be held in Mumbai from March 4 to 26, 2023. A total of 22 matches will be played with Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium hosting. tournament,” BCCI stated.
Out of 409 players, 246 are Indian and 163 are overseas, of which 8 are from affiliated countries. Total limited players is 202, uncapped players are 199 and 8 from affiliated countries.
Up to 90 slots for five teams, of which 30 are for foreign players.
13 foreign players have also placed themselves below the starting price of Rs 50 lakh with the likes of Ellyse Perry, Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine & Deandra Dottin to name a few.
30 players are on the auction list with a base price of Rs 40 lakh.
