One Texas The woman was shot and killed by her ex-husband while on the phone with the 911 operator, telling them her marriage had recently ended and that she was in the midst of a heated argument with her ex.
CBS News reports that the ex-husband fatally shot the woman before turning the gun on himself, all of which took place outside an apartment complex in the Dallas suburb of Lewisville around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
Authorities say the woman argued with her ex-husband when he told 911 to report a domestic incident
Authorities said the former couple, both of whom were not identified on Friday, had a loud argument in the parking lot of the complex when multiple gunshots could be heard.
Just moments earlier, the woman had called 911 to report an incident in the home, according to a source.
According to CBS News, “The woman told the dispatcher that her marriage to the man had recently ended,” police said. “Shortly later, when the woman was on the phone with 911, multiple gunshots could be heard and the call went silent.”
The witness told investigators they also began calling 911 to report the shooting, telling operators that the man shot the woman and then killed himself.
Officers who arrived at the scene found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds to her chest, while the body of her ex-husband lay nearby with a head wound, CBS reported.
The former couple was known to local police for past domestic violence calls, authorities say
The woman was taken to an area hospital but was pronounced dead just an hour later.
Meanwhile, the same alleged gunman suffered his injuries about an hour after his ex-wife’s death.
Authorities say the couple was known to local police from previous calls to their home regarding reports of mostly nonviolent domestic violence.
However, in one call, the husband slashed his wife’s tire, the newspaper quoted a police department spokesman as saying.
The news comes just weeks after the murder-suicide of Tamara Sawyer, who was shot and killed by the man with whom she had been in a romantic relationship since high school, according to reports. CLAUSE 11.
