To address this “disproportionate disproportion”, the Minister called on Big Tech aggregators to provide original news creators with their fair share of revenue.

“It is clear that if the traditional news industry continues to be negatively impacted, the future of journalism, our fourth pillar, will also suffer. So this is a question of reliable journalism and content as well. It puts a small person at a disadvantage, which is not suitable for a country like India where we are likely to have hundreds, thousands of content creators,” the minister said while speaking at ‘ The Future of Digital Media’ by Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA) Conference 2023′ in New Deli.

The minister said that with the development of technology, at some point, the consumption of content in general and news in particular, will largely be done on the internet.

“As millions of consumers use the internet and consumer products and services, time accountability to consumers is also something that needs to be established and legislated. For decades, regulation and legislation or government and societal oversight and oversight of digital platforms have slowed innovation as it has been seen that these are both platforms. innovation and they do not represent any threat or crime. With digital media and digital brands rapidly evolving, we have seen that the old values of media have been challenged or put to the test,” added the Minister.

Chandrasekhar insists this country is solving the problem like other countries and coming soon Digital India The act would look at balancing the “disproportionate control” that Big Tech aggregate companies currently have.
