WhatsApp’s media forwarding with subtitles is now available to these users

WhatsApp, an instant messaging app owned by Meta, recently announced a “subtitled media forwarding feature”. The feature is currently available for Android users, according to a report. This feature will allow users to forward media with subtitles.

As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp wants users to know about the new feature by giving them the ability to remove subtitles from their media before going forward. This feature was previously available for iOS, and it allows users to send GIFs, videos, and other media with captions.

This feature will help users to add captions to media files and moreover it is useful to quickly search old files just by searching keywords from captions. After transitioning annotated media, a new view appears at the bottom of the screen. This will let them know if the feature is enabled or not. Furthermore, it comes with a dismiss button to remove the caption from the image before any user forwards the message if she decides not to forward it.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is working on the ‘saved messages’ feature. According to WaBetaInfo, this feature will allow users to temporarily save a message that has disappeared. WhatsApp introduced disappearing messages in August 2021. Messages sent as disappearing messages are automatically deleted after a specific period of time chosen by the sender.

However, the platform is now working to give users more control over these disappearing messages. With preserved messages, messages are not automatically deleted from the chat and can still be seen by everyone in the chat. Instead, users will have control over the chat and can choose to “unarchive” the message at any time, and it will disappear from the chat forever, WaBetaInfo reports.

It says that WhatsApp will add a bookmark icon in the disappearing message bubble to identify a saved message in WhatsApp. The icon will indicate that the disappearing message has been ‘preserved’ and will be saved even if the disappearing message feature is enabled.

The saved messages feature will allow users to easily distinguish saved messages from regular disappearing messages in the chat. It should be noted here that all chat participants can delete these messages at any time. This feature is still under development and there will probably be an update in the future.
