Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature called WhatsApp Surveys. As reported by WaBetaInfo, an online platform that tracks WhatsApp features, the platform may soon ask users for feedback within the app itself. By taking surveys in this app, users can give their feedback on new features, products etc after receiving the invitation.
How will in-app surveys work?
Users will receive an invitation to submit their feedback. The feature’s screenshot sharing report shows that WhatsApp will bring up a verified chat to send a survey invitation. At the moment, it is not clear what survey users will receive from this chat. Users will have the option to decline invitations from this official WhatsApp chat.
This feature is currently under development, and an update is expected in the future.
How will in-app surveys help?
If a user takes a survey, their response will not affect their account, features or experience on WhatsApp. However, ‘it will certainly help WhatsApp improve the quality of the product’, the report added. The idea is to provide feedback to WhatsApp using an official chat as it will help the company understand how to improve the social messaging app.
The report states that all responses will be securely saved and will only be available to a small fraction of people. In addition, they will comply with WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy.
It is noteworthy here that WhatsApp marks verified accounts using a green check mark so that users always know it is an official account. However, we encourage that even if a chat marked with a green checkmark is verified, users should never share their personal information with them. In fact, WhatsApp Surveys will never ask for sensitive information like your credit number, 6-digit code, or two-step verification PIN. “It is used for feedback purposes only, and as we said above, you can opt out at any time by blocking the conversation in Chat Info,” the report mentioned.
