WhatsApp Desktop Beta is working on feature to select multiple chats: Report
WhatsApp is said to be developing a new feature that will allow users to manage their chats on the desktop app. The messaging service owned by Meta is testing the feature for a future update. This feature will allow them to select multiple chats at once and perform certain actions while using the web version of the app. WhatsApp currently offers the ability to select multiple chats only on the Android and iOS apps. Users can select multiple chats, mark them as read or unread, archive or delete them with a single command.
According to WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp Desktop beta is developing a new feature that allows users to select multiple chats for future updates. The report suggests that the feature will allow users to be able to select multiple chats at once and mute or mark them all as read or unread. With the new update, it’s easy to manage your chats on WhatsApp for desktop.
WABetaInfo has shared a screenshot of the new feature showing the new “Select chat” option available in the drop-down menu. Notably, this feature is currently in development and there is no confirmation of an implementation date.
Meanwhile, the instant messaging platform also Working On top of another, this will allow users to report any suspicious status updates on their PC or laptop on the Desktop app. Any status deemed infringing Terms of Service will then be considered. WhatsApp currently only provides the ability to report suspicious or spam messages to the company to prevent the spread of malicious content on the platform.
With this new ability to report status update features, instant messaging apps will become even more secure. Status updates are reported to be end-to-end encrypted as messages, voice calls, media, location sharing, calls, and status updates are all protected with two-way encryption. The feature is also expected to roll out to WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS in the future.
