What’s There in a Name: Tendulkar, Dhoni, Sehwag’s Resumes for National Selection Posts Sent from Spam | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: When BCCI Officials opened mailboxes to check the resumes of potential national selection committee candidates, they were shocked to find applications from Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virender Sehwag.
And if that’s not enough, there’s captain Pakistan Inzamam-ul-Haq also put forward his candidacy for this position.
Only thing is that all these CVs were posted using spam email ids from impostors wanting to entertain at BCCI’s expense.
BCCI received more than 600 e-mail applications to the five-member selection panel, and some of them came from fake ids claiming to be Tendulkar, Dhoni, Sehwag and Inzamam.
On a serious note, the Cricket Advisory Committee is expected to select 10 names for high positions.
“About 600 applications have been received and some of them come from fake ids claiming to be Dhoni, Sehwag and Tendulkar. They are simply wasting BCCI’s time doing that.
“The CAC will shortlist 10 candidates and then select the final five. The process will be completed soon,” a BCCI source told PTI.
BCCI sacked the selection committee led by Chetan-Sharma after the team was eliminated in the semi-finals at the T20 World Cup last month. However, that console continues to work with their successors unfinished. The committee has also watched the first round of the Ranji Trophy and is watching the second round. Debasish Mohanty is in Kolkata watching the match between Bengal and Himachal Pradesh.
On Wednesday, the BCCI Apex Board was unable to remove the player’s central contract as a selection committee has yet to be formed and their opinion is required before the list is finalized.
The CAC consisting of Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe and Sulakshna Naik, appointed earlier this month, is expected to meet soon to complete the work.
Besides deciding on central contracts, the selection committee’s initial task will be to select teams for the home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand starting January 3.
