The brand has reinvented the customer experience in an accessible, holistic form of luxury with the re-launch of its womenswear collection. The collection features lightweight wool suits designed in a modern, bold silhouette with rich, captivating color ratios. The company said in a press release, many of the styles are built to the responsible wool standard (RWS).
Banana Republic’s second-quarter (Q2) sales increased 9% year-over-year to $539 million, with comparable sales up 8%. The brand’s fall 2022 collection has launched in-store and online with refreshes to several key categories and is continuing to expand into lifestyle with Banana Republic Art coming later this season. .
Highlights from the September collection include a new look at womenswear, shoes and bags along with a focus on luxurious fabrics like cashmere, leather, suede and silk.
“Our story is one of innovation, resilience and relevance,” says Sandra Stangl, President and CEO of Banana Republic. “We have been re-imagining almost every element of the customer journey, with a particular focus on quality products, differentiated experiences and relevant branding.” As part of this transformation, Banana Republic has been fulfilling its vision of becoming a leading lifestyle brand. After debuting earlier this year with BR Baby and BR Athletics, the theme will continue into Fall 2022.
Banana Republic is also rebooting its shoe and bag collection, which features Italian-sourced suede and suede materials with signature design details woven throughout. The brand will offer five bag styles in three sizes, set in a neutral color palette. The shoe collection will feature a comfortable dipped sole using top-of-the-line Poron Foam and will include 17 styles.
Banana Republic is also ramping up cashmere investments to capture 30% of its men’s and women’s sweaters and launching a dedicated online store for cashmere next month. All new Banana Republic cashmere will meet the Good Cashmere Standard (GCS) next year.
Additionally, Atelier, Banana Republic’s free personal styling service, currently available at 80 US Banana Republic Specialty stores, will expand to all US Specialty stores by the end of September.
