US Q1 Visa Application Process

The Q1 visa application process covers both the applicant and the employer or sponsor. This process must be initiated by the sponsor in order to be authorized by USCIS in order to hire a visa applicant. Therefore, visa applicants cannot begin filing without valid approval from USCIS.

Q1 visa processing time

Q1 visa processing time can be from 15 days to 3 months. After the processing time, officers will contact you to let you know if you have been approved for a visa.

Q1 visa validity

The US Embassy and USCIS will issue you a Q1 visa for the duration of the program or up to 15 months, whichever is shorter.

If your visa is only granted for 8 months, you and your sponsor can apply for an extension of 7 months. Your stay in the US cannot exceed 15 months. After 15 months, you must return to your home country and wait 1 year before you can apply for another Q1 visa.
