Ukraine Child’s Heart-Melting Reaction As Soldier Mom Returns
Ukraine: Snakeman approaches the child and the two share a warm embrace.
Photos and videos of soldiers returning home after days of war and areas of conflict are always special. Adding to the list of such heartwarming images, Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s Interior Minister shared a video of a soldier returning home in the midst of a Russian invasion and receiving a warm welcome from a child, perhaps her son.
The footage begins with the soldier getting out of a car outside her house as a child waits at the gate. The baby was holding his face in his arms, seemingly so happy to have his mother back without knowing how to react in that special moment. The soldier holds the child in his arms. Their pet, equally excited, is seen jumping around them.
Sharing the video, Mr. Gerashchenko said, “This is what we are fighting for.”

Sharing a similar experience, one person said, “It’s heartwarming – but there’s also a lump in my throat. When my husband returned home from deployment for missing 9 months of Little Quidamity Quokkas’ life, she wouldn’t give him the cuddles she gave the local postman. She doesn’t know him. Those sacrifices are reflected here.”

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February of this year and has displaced thousands of Ukrainians even as the country continues to fight bravely.
