U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumerthe most senior Democrat in the room, tested positive for Coronavirus and had very mild symptoms, a spokesman said on Sunday.
“The Leader has been fully vaccinated and doubled-boosted, and has very mild symptoms,” the statement said. “Following CDC guidance, Leader Schumer will be quarantining this week and working remotely.”
The Senate, evenly split between Democrats and Republicans with the Vice President voting indiscriminately when necessary, returns on Monday from a two-week recess.
“Even when he’s not at the Capitol, through virtual meetings and his trademark flip phone, he’ll continue with his hectic schedule and stay in near-regular contact with members of the public. his colleagues,” the statement said.
