Tyson Fury wants Joshua in December without Usyk Fight
Via Charles Brun: Tyson Fury says he would offer to fight Anthony Joshua in December if unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk isn’t available to face him due to injury.
Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) said he believes there is still interest from the boxing world in his showdown with former unified champion Joshua even though AJ has lost three of his last five fights. .
For the Fury vs Joshua fight (24-3, 22 KOs) to happen in December, AJ needs to be assertive and instruct promoter Eddie Hearn that he wants the next fight with ‘The Gypsy King’.
Hearn has his own ideas for Joshua’s next bout, saying he wants him to face the top 15 contenders in December.
In other words, it’s code talk from Hearn that means he’ll make it through the bottom of the top 15 to find a brave contender who can’t punch and barely has a chance to hit. beat AJ.
“I still think that even though he lost 3 of the last 5 teamfights, I still think people want to see that fight. So if Oleksandr Usyk doesn’t want the fight for whatever reason, then we will go and give AJ the fight“Tyson Fury said to BT Sport.
The fundamental problem with Fury taking on Joshua in December is that the fight will likely take months to make and probably not enough time for the fight to happen later in the year.
Fury will probably want to be on the A side, which won’t fly with Joshua & Hearn, and that will really mess up the negotiations. It doesn’t matter that Fury holds the WBC belt because that title can also be a trinket.
In terms of bargaining, which of the two is the more popular, and Joshua is clearly the bigger name in the sport.
“He is [Usyk] openly said that he doesn’t want to fight me this year. He wants to fight next year. I cannot do anything about that. I beat both AJ and Usyk on the same night,” Fury continued.
“I will be fighting for the next few months in Great Britain. Usyk won’t be willing and doesn’t want to fight whoever is available. They’re all bums anyway,” Fury said of his protest.
