TULSA, Oklahoma –
Three people were killed Wednesday in a shooting at a Tulsa medical building on the hospital campus, a police captain said.
Captain Richard Meulenberg confirmed the death toll. Meulenberg said the shooter was also dead.
It is not clear how the shooter died.
“Officers are currently going through every room in the building to check for additional threats,” police said in a Facebook post shortly before 6pm.
Meulenberg also said many people were injured and the medical complex was a “catastrophic scene.”
Health System St. Francis locked down his campus on Wednesday afternoon because of the situation at the Natalie Health Building. The Natalie Building houses an outpatient surgery center and a breast wellness center.
Aerial footage from a television helicopter showed first responders carrying someone on a stretcher away from the hospital building.
Dozens of police cars can be seen outside the hospital complex, and authorities have closed traffic as the investigation continues.
A reunion center for families to search for their loved ones has been established at a nearby high school.
A spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was also at the scene.
