Tory Lanez files petition for black people to perform at major events and festivals
Tory Lanez is trying to start her own movement! At least, that’s the sentiment presented in an online petition the artist created on Tuesday. His call to action is to support Black men who are active in the entertainment industry. It looks like Tory is trying to protect Black’s chances of performing at major events and festivals. This includes the annual and highly anticipated Coachella. Tory took to Twitter to announce his new petition.
Tory’s Protective Effort
“Keep me black at Coachella, all the major festivals and events,” Tory tweeted along with the petition link. “Sign RT and stand with us.”
He continued with, “I’m just doing this… because someone has to.”
Apparently, Tory was just looking for 1,000 people to co-sign his message. By the time this article was published, the petition was more than halfway filled with 557 signatures.
“We are watching the fake cancellation industry and culture remove all legendary black people, black celebrities, and black people… .. from festivals, from culture and our life…and it begins with us…. we have to make a change.. so that we can keep our black people strong,” Tory wrote in an account listed as ‘Protect Black Men.’
He continued in the petition’s description: “2 years ago we stood for equal rights for blacks with GEORGE FLOYD .. what has changed from ‘then to now’ in regards to to the defense of BLACK MEN.”
Stand by your point of view
These are not new thoughts coming from the Canadian rapper. In fact, on Monday night, he posted several tweets expressing similar concerns. He started off with a simple tweet, “defending Black men” before starting to get involved.
“I don’t care what you guys have to say… We’re black… and we matter… don’t wait until we’ve all tied up, lied, and the character is assassinated to realize that they have removed all our legends and stereotypes from the chat,” Tory tweeted.
Stand by your point of view
In the petition’s description, Tory asked potential signers to prevent “they” from using a man’s “private life situation” to evaluate their art.
“A man is not his profession… and a profession is never judged by a man” don’t let them use our personal life situations to create fake stories that have been misinterpreted to hinder and damage our legacy,” Tory wrote. “Stand Up For Us… WE ARE THE BACK OF CULTURE.”
“If we lose this war, we will lose the head of the same culture we have known, loved and owned for the past 2000 years… BLACK PEOPLE NEED PROTECTION. The first step is to PROTECT OUR CULTURE!! HELP WE,” Tory wrote.
