Welcome to Room Glamour beauty destination where we put celebrity-founded beauty brands to the test. As A-listers continue to roll out new product lines regularly, we’re using our beauty editor expertise to figure out which products in the line are worth promoting — no lies, No ads, no ads. Our newest contestant: Soulcare keycreated by legend, singer and actress, Alicia Keys.
A few years ago, Alicia Keys made a bold statement, vowing to give up makeup. Since then, her beauty style has remained like dew, with almost no skin left. Her brand Keys Soulcare could be described as an upgraded crunchy granola: It’s all about inner beauty, glass packaging, nourishment for the soul and soul — and adding a serum to the routine. yours.
Initially, the brand focused on products that were sensory, ritualistic, like masks and lotions that cleanse and touch your skin—connecting with humanity. One of their products is even called Reviving Aura Mist. (Apparently, Keys was on a spiritual side that I couldn’t even consider.)
It was really a shock to learn that Keys had launched makeup products to join her list of skin care and body care products.
While I was caught off guard by Keys launching a makeup product, the products were more or less what you’d expect from makeup-averse celebrities: Cream blush, tinted lip balm , clear gel, highlighter, and cheek brush if you prefer to apply your products with a tool rather than fingers. Think of them as products you would use on a light day of makeup. Throw in a little concealer, and you’ve got my 5-minute daily beauty recipe.
Sheer Flush Cheek Tint
Now, I’m a confessing cream blush snob. I’ve tried the most, loved a lot and more or less I know what works for me so far. This version contains sunflower seed and safflower oils to help moisturize the skin, but what impressed me most was the range of colors. I can get pink behind, but my favorite tones are more earthy and brick, so I love the Mysterious and Undeniable shades. Although they look dark in pots, they are super cool on the skin. They leave a nice blush – a bit reminiscent of applying a little lipstick on your cheeks. They can look a bit blotchy when using my fingers, so the included brush is a must-have in my book.
Lip balm with pleasant color
Like cream blush, I’m also a connoisseur of tinted lip balms. My favorite look is a glossy, ’90s brown that I can reapply over and over to my front-facing phone camera like a camera on the go. The version from Keys Soulcare uses avocado oil to add moisture, which is an ingredient that I love. Like cream blushes, I love the shade range, which includes red, pink, berry, red, and nude—and clear, if that’s your thing. Unfortunately, for my purposes, the balm has a moisturizing but matte finish when I was hoping for a shine. But if you prefer a relaxed, natural look, you should have no problem.
Soft Stay Brow Gel
Here’s a classic: a clear brow gel to continue with the natural beauty line, Glossier-esque. Thanks to a combination of bamboo and hibiscus extracts, it is said to help nourish and condition brows. It does what it says: sculpt brows, gently hold them in place, and even add volume. For me, this product missed the mark in two ways. Firstly, while I appreciate that the container isn’t too loose when it comes to the product, I find it difficult to use the long brush of mascara around my brows. And most importantly, I don’t have eyebrows that can be fixed into place with a light amount of hold. I applied it in the morning, and by lunchtime some of the hairs were going in the wrong direction.
Let Me Glow Illuminating Priming Serum
I’m always pleased to see a product made by an A-lister that I’m really positive about that they need and use. Since Keys is not about makeup but more about skin, it seemed fitting that she was aiming for a highlighter primer that would add a healthy glow to skin without washing away foundation and concealer. point. This serum-based primer also uses one of my favorite skincare ingredients, niacinamide, to help protect skin from environmental aggressors while treating breakouts. Overall, I find this primer does exactly what it promises. It adds an extra shine to my skin that makes me feel bold enough to skip any concealer.
If there’s one common theme across Keys Soulcare’s makeup line, it’s this: all of these products do what they say, without exaggeration or over-discrimination. This, combined with Keys’ lack of makeup, leads me to believe that she created products that she wanted to use, which I have great respect for. In the end, however, the winner of this round was chosen because I found other products that I love and are more likely to use on a daily basis than a brow gel, cream blush, and lip tint. . But Let Me Glow Illuminating Priming Serum is in a league of its own.
And yes, there are plenty of glow serums and even more glow primers out there. But this version of Keys Soulcare hits the void, combining unique skincare ingredients like niacinamide, squalane, and soothing oils with the added benefit of making your skin look great instantly. It’s not too sparkly, it’s super light, comes in a nice glass packaging, and I love the way my makeup goes on it. Plus, I think it’s reasonably priced adding all these elements. So, if you haven’t found a cream blush, tinted lip balm, or clear gel that works for you, I think you’ll find that versions from Keys Soulcare are good contenders. But it’s the Illuminating Priming Serum – interestingly, the one I trust most Alicia herself will use (and it’s out of stock everywhere, metric) – that I think is the clear standout.
