The successor to the Lamborghini Aventador has 13 driving modes

Lamborghini is just a few days away from unveiling the successor to the Aventador, a new V-12 supercar equipped with a plug-in hybrid system. boasts a trio of electric motors.

The powertrain configuration has given Lamborghini new opportunities when it comes to how power is transmitted to and from the wheels, and allows engineers to build 13 different driving modes.

Lamborghini says the versatility means that the car codenamed LB744 will deliver powerful performance and confident handling in a variety of driving and gripping situations.

The LB744 features a newly developed 6.5-liter V-12 engine mounted in the center of the chassis and paired with a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission mounted behind the engine in a horizontal position, rather than in a horizontal position. longitudinally and in front of the engine as in the Aventador. An electric motor is integrated into the transmission and drives the rear wheels along with the engine, and two more are located at the front to exclusively power the front wheels in an independent fashion and to provide additional driveability. four-wheel drive. Instead of a drive shaft running down the middle of the car for all-wheel drive, there’s now a 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery in there.

The configuration delivers a maximum output of 1,000 hp and means the LB744 can operate with all-electric all-wheel drive over short distances. The reverse gear is also electrically powered, although handled only by the front engines. The electric motors also allow the generation of electric torque vectoring, a first for a Lamborghini.

Lamborghini has taken advantage of this configuration to provide the driver with access to three powertrain modes—Power, Hybrid, and Performance—and four driving modes—Città (City), Strada (Street) , Sport and Corsa (Track)—via steering wheel controls. These seven modes combine to provide a total of 13 possible configurations for media setup.

Recharge makes maximum use of the vehicle’s energy recovery; Hybrid optimizes the use of motors and electric motors for increased performance; and Performance utilizes all energy sources for maximum performance. Additional driving modes control various vehicle systems including suspension, steering and aerodynamics.

The most effective setup is a combination of Performance and Corsa modes. Here, the powertrain delivers the full 1,000 horsepower, with the V-12 always on to ensure the battery is fully charged. The chassis system is also set up to deliver the sharpest response. For peak performance, the driver can also disable electronic stability control in this mode to avoid power cuts when driving at the limit.

The front frame also incorporates new carbon fiber anti-collision structures. The rear frame is made from aluminum, just like on the Aventador.
