The sloppy Blue Jays are defeated by Orioles 7-3

TORONTO – Even the return of lead player George Springer couldn’t pull the Toronto Blue Jays out of their August funk.

Springer was back after 10 days on the disabled list with a right elbow injury and hitting the three-time mark, but the Blue Jays suffered a 7-3 defeat to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.

The win was the ninth in 13 games for the Orioles (60-55), while the Blue Jays (61-53) continued to stumble with two wins in their nine outings.

Toronto was disrupted by some sloppy defenses and poor throws from starter Yusei Kikuchi (4-7) in the fourth inning that saw the visitors score three times.

“Not ideal games for counter-attack, this is highlighted a bit,” said Blue Jays interim coach John Schneider, referring to a defensive mess in the Cleveland loss. Indians on Sunday. “But overall, the defense has been great.

Mateo finished second as Terrin Vavra of Baltimore walked and advanced to third after Kikuchi’s throw error in a second-base pick-up attempt.

A slam with Bichette knocked the Blue Jays off balance, and his home throw for the speed Mateo was late.
