The Sights Of Tokyo Game Show 2022

Let me tell you a little secret that most people won’t tell you: the real way to enjoy a video game show is at home, from the comfort of your couch, and watch the event on YouTube.

Over the years, the game press has done a remarkable job of tricking you into thinking otherwise. The shows look absolutely gorgeous, full of energy, and almost like we’re looking into the future, which we then organize into mini news stories and on-demand trailers for our readers. our loyalty back home.

The reality is much sadder.

Whether it’s E3, PAX, Gamescom, or in this case the Tokyo Game Show, attending a video game trading event means dealing with a near-fatal combination of jet and work. Overwhelme. The brutal FOMO of being in some of the most amazing cities in the world but spending all your time in conference rooms. An unbelievable symphony of thousands of people talking at once. The unbelievable smell of thousands of people all standing so close together. Thousands of people need to use the toilet at the same time. This doesn’t even address the inevitable safety concerns of hosting a video game conference amid the ongoing pandemic. But I digress.

All that said, there are some fun things to see, like huge, gaudy statues and huge booths that can cost tens of thousands of dollars for games you’ve never heard of and have likely will never play. The things that really make it worth it.

While we’d love to bring each of you to Tokyo, sadly, we only have the budget to fly our two full-time employees. So, instead of attending on your own, enjoy my curated series of photos of what I saw on the show floor.

We’ve all been thinking about it so let’s tackle this first: The show’s game! This game looks COOL. Can’t wait.

If you’ve read my Wanted: Dead preview a few issues ago, you know I’m just as excited about this game as my booth companions. Neat dinner, though.

This dinosaur moved and roared and I almost missed a demo because I watched it for so long. I love dinosaurs. I recently revisited the first Jurassic Park and there’s a strong case to be made that it was the blueprint for the perfect movie.

This is great and all but when are they going to do Advent Children again?

This is my father.

As we passed, Marcus said to me, “You MUST take a picture of Bomberman.” He is so fierce that I dare not challenge him. I shudder to think what might have happened if I hadn’t taken this photo.

In the United States, Thatgamecompany’s Sky has come and gone. But in Japan, it’s a big deal! It’s really cool to see it on the show floor. Sky is a great game. You should play it.

Here’s an obvious joke so we can move on: It’s just a little bigger than the real thing!

I always wonder what will happen to these big statues after the congress is over? Do they go to other shows? When they retire, what happens? Is there a dump somewhere full of these? Someone tell me; I want to visit.

Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter! Street Fighter!

People love to bask on Konami, but this stall is easily one of the busiest. Sorry, the heads of Metal Gear – Yu-Gi-Oh are currently paying the bills.

Email Marcus and ask who these people are. I’m not sure.

People on the internet are saying this is a tease for Kojima Productions’ next game, but I’m not convinced. I think it’s an ad for the studio’s recruitment page.

One more for good measure.

Marcus plays Like a Dragon: Ishin! This game looks great. It also has Riki Takeuchi, a big W in my book.

I’m old enough to remember when THQ went out of business!

I wasn’t joking about Marcus’ threats earlier. He made me take those pictures of Bomberman. I’m hiding the cry for help here with this Forspoken photo. I fear my life is in real danger.

This QR code has been attached to the Kojima Productions booth. Scan it and let me know where it takes you. It didn’t work on my phone and I gave up after a few tries.

Well, you’ve got it, folks. All the fun of TGS without actually being there. See you next year!
