The Queen’s funeral was watched by an average of 26.2 million people across all channels, according to Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board (BARB).
The service is broadcast simultaneously on a range of networks, including BBC One, BBC Two and BBC News; ITV together with ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4; and Sky News and Sky Sports.
Before that, at least 250,000 people joined the huge stream to get to her coffin lying in state for four days at Westminster Hall in London at Parliament.
Culture Secretary Michelle Donelan released the number the morning after the nation’s longest-reigning monarch was buried at Windsor Castle.
Ms Donelan said her department is still “processing the numbers” but she believes the figure is around 250,000.
