Eight people have been killed after a massive fire broke out at an electric motorcycle showroom in Telangana’s Secunderabad today. A CCTV video has emerged showing the moment the fire broke out.
The fire then spread to a hotel located on the upper floors of a multi-storey building.
The initial investigation results showed that there was an electrical fault in the basement of the building, which was used by the showroom owner to store electric motorbikes, causing the fire.
All eight people appeared to have died of asphyxiation from the smoke, police said.
TV images showed several people trying to jump out of hotel windows to escape the fire.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Minister KT Ramarao offered their condolences and announced compensation to the families of those killed.
