The Dior Birkenstocks Are Finally Here
Dior Birkenstocks made their debut into the depths of winter, with the models’ stocking feet tucked into chubby flannel clogs and sandals as they walked across a Paris runway. But now, in the not-quite-dead summer heat, they had arrived for the last time, ready to travel the world.
All that needs to be said—The highly anticipated Dior x Birkenstock collabofficially known as Dior by Birkenstock, is finally here.
The house of Dior has released its variations on two pairs — the Tokio rear strap mule and the Milano back strap sandal — for sale. on their website this morning, with both styles going for $1,100 each. The sandals are available in two colors, black nubuck leather and “Dior Gray” fleece; the same goes for the mules, which also come with an additional option of “gray” nubuck. Each of them features Dior’s signature roller coaster buckle (a pattern 1017 ALYX 9SM founder Matthew Williams took the brand back a few years) and a pair of floating soles that combine Dior Oblique motifs with Birkenstock’s signature bone-patterned uppers.
As of press time, the collaboration – which Dior says “is a relentless tribute to Monsieur Dior’s passion for gardening by combining function and elegance” (luxury) – almost already sold out on the brand’s website, although you can pick up a pair at your local Dior maison. And now Diorkenstocks is sure to venture into the uncharted territory where the map ends, aka… the secondary resale market. We can only hope they get to meet Dior’s puffy skates other the best partnership of the year, with Eli Russell Linnetz of ERL, along the way. In the meantime, good luck!
