A woman and her husband were attacked to death by her brother in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Here’s what happened.

A newly married woman from a village in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, is called home to throw a party arranged by her brother. The joy of the ride home soon turns brutal when the brother and brother-in-law murder the woman and her husband.
The 23-year-old Saranya, who works as a nurse, got married to Mohan 5 days ago. The couple visited her home on Monday because she had to get back the gold she pledged before getting married.
Then Saranya’s brother, Sakthivel, called the couple to have a party at his house. When the couple decided to leave, Sakthivel and his brother-in-law Ranjith drew their sickles and attacked Mohan to death. Before she could call for help, the duo attacked her to death.
Sakthivel and Ranjith later surrendered to the Kumbakonam Town Police. Initial investigation results show that Sakthivel planned Saranya to marry her brother-in-law Ranjith, but against his will, Saranya married Mohan.
The police recovered the bodies of Mohan and Saranya and took them to the Kumbakonam Government hospital for an autopsy. The next survey is underway.
