Teofimo Lopez will knock out Pedro Campa predicts Tim Bradley

Via Sam Volz: Tim Bradley predicts a knockout victory for former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez in a 10-round bout against Pedro Campa on August 13 in the 140 lb division.

Bradley calls this a ‘makeover’ for 24-year-old Teofimo, who has a lot to prove to the boxing world after he was unequivocally defeated by a B-level boxer. George Kambosos Jr.

Losing to a boxer of the same level shows that Teofimo is not what his supporters at the Top Rated think he is.

Some boxing fans feel that Teo is a weight class bully, a guy whose weight frame is seething down to 135 for an edge over smaller boxers.

Like most gladiators with a boil, they eventually can no longer do it, as they are weakened by dehydration.

We don’t know if the 140 lb class will provide enough cushion for Teofimo to avoid losing weight again. For a rehydration boxer to the mid 150s, he might still be weak. We’ll find out on August 13.

Campa (34-1-1, 23 KOs) is a second-rate boxer and is not ranked in the top 15 by any sanctioning body. That means Top Rank doesn’t stand any chance with Teofimo by comparing him to the top 15 contenders.

López vs. Campa will take place at Resorts World Las Vegas and will be shown on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+. The broadcast starts at 10:00 p.m. ET.

Teofimo (16-1, 12 KOs) ran away from the 135 lb division after losing his IBF/WBA/WBC Franchise & WBO lightweight title in a 12-round split decision against Georg Kambosos Jr last November at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Teofimo – Campa undercard:

  • Xander Zayas vs Elias Espadas
  • Andres Cortes and Abraham Montoya
  • Duke Ragan vs D’Angelo Fuentes
  • Troy Isley and Victor Toney
  • Charlie Sheehy and Omar Rosario
  • Jose Enrique Vivas vs. Edy Valencia

“We’re one month away from the return of Teofimo Lopez, who hasn’t fought since losing his undefeated record and lightweight world championship to George Kambosos Jr last November,” Max said. Kellerman said to ESPN Deportes.

“He is fighting Pedro Campa. Besides winning, what does Teofimo need to do in that fight? “

“Well, first of all, I’m glad Teofimo is back because we need a young phenom like Teofimo Lopez. He’s loud, boisterous and skilled, and also loves to dance inside the ring,” says Tim Bradley.

“I enjoy his presence in the boxing world, but he needs to focus mentally and physically from here on out. Instead of ‘The Takeover’, the new campaign is now ‘The makeover.’ That’s what he needed, a complete change because he was prepared to beat last time [against George Kambosos Jr]and he beat.

“I like singles, I like doubles, I like trios, and I love running home; everyone does. So I’m expecting Campa; he is a forward fighter and sometimes a counter puncher. I’m looking forward to this young man [Teofimo] to get rid of him at 140 lbs, knock him down‘ Bradley said.
