Target of starting 1.5 lakh Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres achieved: Govt
New Delhi: In a major achievement that represents the strengthening of the country’s medical infrastructure, India has passed a remarkable milestone – 150,000 Ayushman Bharat Health and Medical Center (AB-HWC) went into operation before December 31, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in the statement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded the nation’s efforts in accomplishing this feat ahead of the stipulated deadline and said that the centers would make it easier for people to access primary healthcare facilities.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, “The making of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the collaborative and collective efforts of the States/UTs and the Central Government has made India a global model of guaranteed comprehensive primary health care services”.
“Implementing the principles of “Antyodaya”- leaving no one behind, 150,000 Ayushman Bharat Health and Medical Centers (AB-HWC) are transforming the delivery of primary health care services. comprehensive, globally free and serving all ages from birth to death, through a continuum of care,” the ministry said.
Ensuring access to healthcare services to the innermost regions of the country through various initiatives, AB-HWC passed 8.5 teleconsultations through e-Sanjeevni , where nearly 40,000 remote consultations take place daily.
According to the ministry, more than 134 million people across the country have benefited from AB-HWC and more than 86.90 beneficiaries have been cumulatively screened for non-communicable diseases, including 29.95 people with hypertension, 25.56 people have diabetes, 17.44 people have diabetes. oral cancer, 8.27 cores for breast cancer and 5.66 cores for cervical cancer.
Due to the expansion of AB-HWC, the number of essential drugs has increased to 172 at Primary Health Center – Health Care Center (PHC-HWC) and 105 at Secondary Medical Center – Center Health Care (SHC-HWC) and essential diagnoses have also expanded to 63 at PHC-HWC and 14 at SHC-HWC.
AB-HWC also includes wellness sessions on yoga, zumba, cyclathons, walkathons and provides guidance on diet, physical activity, active parenting, smoking, alcohol and other aspects to instill thinking for public health.
To date, more than 1.60 wellness sessions have been conducted at these centers.
In addition, AB-HWC has also operated 2-3 centers in the metropolitan area under the umbrella of the Urban Primary Health Center-Health and Wellness Center (UPHC-HWC), enhancing care outpatient care and covers a population of 15,000 to 20,000.
