German tuner Gemballa has been in the business of building faster cars since 1981. Now, the Leonberg-based company is developing its own car, which will naturally become a supercar.
Limited production of the new supercar will begin in 2024, a year after Gemballa completes construction of its new headquarters and production facility.
The demo image hints at a low-slope, race-focused design with a mid-engine layout, and performance estimates require a 0-60 mph time of under 2.5 seconds and a 0 time -124 mph is almost 6.5 seconds.
Gemballa boss Steffen Korbach first announced plans for the car in 2019, at the time claiming that it would have more than 800 hp and that buyers could expect a “consistent car.” decisive, radical, pure and luxurious”. For reference, a Porsche 911 Turbo tuned by Gemballa to produce 818 hp can hit 60 mph in 2.38 seconds and hit a top speed of 230 mph.

Korbach also says the car will be powered entirely by a petrol engine and can be offered with an optional manual transmission. It is being developed as an alternative to similar cars before Gemballa embarks on the road to electrification.
To ensure a high level of performance, Gemballa will rely on carbon fiber construction and advanced aerodynamics.
Gemballa hasn’t shared how many examples of supercars it plans to build, although the company says its future product plans call for more limited production supercars.
The company was founded by Uwe Gemballa who ran it until Murder in South Africa in 2010. After the death of the founder, Gemballa was in trouble but was saved by Korbach and other investors. The launch of this supercar will mark Gemballa’s transition from a pure tuning company to a low-volume car manufacturer, similar to German rival Ruf, which also custom Porsches and has built his own line of supercars called CTR.
