Stay Tuned’s Savannah Sellers and Maya Eaglin Beauty Routines
The current news cycle can often be relentless, fast-paced, and hard to keep up with — that’s why NBC News programming Keep stable commit to sharing all the stories you need to know on the platforms you are using. On Snapchat and TikTok, journalists Savannah Sellers, Maya Eaglin, and Gadi Schwartz report on a variety of topics, from abortion rights arrive Strange things Easter signand has quickly become the go-to source for Gen Z. (Keep stable to be The first news show launched on Snapchat Discover in 2017 and is now averaging one million views per episode, every Adweek.) For Sellers and Eaglin, it also means working on screen (or rather, phone) readiness regularly. In honor of the show’s fifth anniversary, the two chatted with ELLE about their best beauty tricks, holy grail products, and how they prepare for the day at work:
My go-to product
Savannah Seller: Sunscreen! It’s pretty much my only staple since I’m always trying new products or out of habit. I apply SPF 30 sunscreen on my face every day under all makeup. And when removing makeup during the day for a workout, the new sunscreen will continue.
Maya Eaglin: I use a daily moisturizer as an essential part of my routine. I have very dry skin and daily makeup can make it drier. I always start with a moisturizing sunscreen and a light fragrance-free face cream, which helps all my other products glide on and prevents my set powder from flaking off.
A beauty tip I swear by
Seller: How important is hydration! I can’t say too much about the positive difference I’ve seen since focusing on drinking more water. Water bottles that mark the hour with words of encouragement like “you got it” and “never give up” have quadrupled, at least, my water intake. I have one at the office and one at home, so I complete three a day. I carry it with me to every shoot and every workout. You will be surprised how much more you will drink just because your bottle holds more water. And one more thing – dry shampoo. That’s my savior. I have travel sizes in every purse and drawer.
Eaglin: I’m so proud to wear my natural hair Keep stable and NBC News NOW. For others who volumize their curls, I recommend trying the LOC method of applying products on the day of your shampoo: Conditioner, oil, and then styling cream. I’m also a big fan of keeping my hair in a protective pineapple style at home or at bed, just wearing a super high ponytail to keep my curls in place.
One beauty tip that has really worked for me is learning to love every version of myself. There’s really no such thing as perfect, and I’ve been frustrated at times when I watched episodes where my makeup was messed up or I had a curl of hair straight up. But honestly, that’s how my real life is, and so I think being able to appear authentic just makes Keep stable Much more real, much more transparent. I have learned to really love the “hair days” and the repetitive outfits, because they are such a part of my life!

My all-time beauty icon
Seller: Hailey Bieber’s gritty game is unmatched. I love her natural look and that’s what I try to work towards over the weekend. At work, my NBC name Savannah Guthrie totally inspires me. Her fun makeup, jewelry, and matching clothes give me the confidence to wear my own outfits. You get a lot of unwanted feedback about your look in this line of work, and it can sometimes be intimidating to really own your style. Seeing Savannah Guthrie do it, and do it so well, gave me the confidence to do the same.
Eaglin: One of my beauty icons is Yara Shahidi. I like her style and how she is always trying new things. She also keeps it very real with the ups and downs of skin that I can totally relate to. I’ve always been annoyed with occasional breakouts or breakouts, but Yara inspires me to embrace them — and use them as a telltale sign of other things your body might need (water, rest, etc.) , add fresh food, etc.) at the end of the day, we are human!

The best beauty tips for Gen Z…
Seller: Beauty is all about feeling confident. It means something different from everyone else and it’s very personal. The most important thing is that you feel your best so that you can do your best work. Find easy habits that are both beneficial to your health and your beauty, and it will.
…and the best job advice for Gen Z
Eaglin: Perfection can never be the goal, because it can’t. When I first started my job at Keep stable I would get annoyingly awkward lines, make small mistakes, or take too long to ask a question in my interviews. I felt so much pressure to push through, I completely missed the goal of just being myself. A lot of us, myself included, can really get caught up in the pressures of an “abrasive culture”—always having to level up and level up. Ambition is great, but make sure you stay kind and take care of your body. Set healthy boundaries, spread positive vibes when you can, and enjoy the ride!
