Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says murder suspect Benjamin Pierce died after being found unresponsive in his cell
Deputies said 39-year-old Benjamin Pierce killed his wife Leslie Ann Pierce on Friday morning.

Investigators said Leslie Ann was an educator with Katy ISD.
The couple’s 7-year-old child was in the house on Painted Meadow Circle and deputies said he may have witnessed the assault.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Benjamin was taken into a man’s cell and found unresponsive at around 4:30 a.m.
Prison staff tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to Gonzalez, there were no obvious signs of injury or foul play.
An outside law enforcement agency will investigate the death in prison.
