Samsung on Wednesday announced its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4.
The $999.99 Galaxy Z Flip 4 and $1,799.99 Galaxy Z Fold 4 look very similar to the Flip 3 and Fold 3. Also on Flip 4, users can record hands-free videos by partially folding the flap to activate FlexCam. Samsung has partnered with Meta so this feature can be used on Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first device to run Android 12L, a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen devices.
The camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has been upgraded to a 50MP wide lens and a 30x zoom lens. The enhanced sensor and processing power will help users take better photos at night.
Like the Fold 3, the interior camera on the Fold 4 hides inside the display to create a more seamless viewing experience.
It features super fast charging that provides up to 50% battery in 30 minutes just like Flip 4.
Both of Samsung’s new folding phones support the company’s S Pen stylus, a feature that has drawn consumers to its Galaxy Note phones for years. However, like last year, there’s nowhere to store it in the Galaxy Z Fold 4, as you can still do on a Galaxy Note phone.
The new taskbar on the Z Fold 4 shows your favorite apps, while new swipe gestures on the phone make switching between apps more intuitive. The Z Fold 4’s screen is also brighter than the Fold 3’s and has a higher refresh rate than previous models, making things like scrolling through web pages smoother.
Samsung will take orders for the new phones starting Wednesday and will ship them on August 26.

Samsung also announced new smartwatches, the $279.99 Galaxy Watch 5, $449.99 Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and $329.99 Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition.
Samsung says the health metrics on the Galaxy Watch 5 are more accurate than its predecessor thanks to the increased surface area. Watch 5 also features a new body temperature sensor for more accurate health readings. Battery and charging speeds have also been improved on the Watch 5 in part thanks to a 13% larger battery. The watch can provide eight hours of sleep tracking with just eight minutes of charge, which Samsung says is 30% faster than the Galaxy Watch 4.
According to Samsung, the Watch 5 Pro is designed with users in mind “who love the great outdoors”. It’s 60% bigger than the battery in the Watch 4. Watch 5 Pro lasts 80 hours on a full charge. Its design is also more durable for users who engage in more extreme sports. This comes as Apple prepares to announce three new Apple Watch variants, including a new entry-level SE model, a standard Series 8, and a version definitely geared towards extreme sports, according to Bloomberg.
The Galaxy Watch 5 Golf Edition provides guidance and recommendations to golfers while they’re on the course.
The watch launches on August 26.

Finally, Samsung has launched a new generation of earbuds called Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Most notably, these wireless headphones feature a technology called Smart Active Noise Cancellation. They adjust to the sound around you but can also determine when someone is talking to you and turn the volume down so you can hear what someone is saying. They come in three colors: white, black and purple. The buds launch on August 26 for $229.99.
