Russia banned from Euro 2024 qualifying draw | Football news

PARIS: Russia will not enter the draw to qualify for 2024 Euros, UEFA and the country’s football federation confirmed on Tuesday.
The Russian national team and Russian clubs were banned from international competition by UEFA earlier this year following the invasion of Ukraine.
“All Russian teams are currently suspended following the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee of 28 February 2022 which was further confirmed by Court of Arbitration for Sports on 15 July 2022,” European football’s governing body said in a statement.

“As a result, Russia was not included in the UEFA European Football Championship 2022-24 qualifying draw.”
Russia saw an appeal against the ban denied by CAS in July.
“The union is currently awaiting the full text of the CAS decision, after studying the decision to be made in the next steps,” Russian Football Federation speak.
Russia is also banned from participating World Cup at FIFA’s Qatar.
Initially, the team made it through to the knockout round of the European qualifiers.
The 2024 European Championships will be hosted by Germanywith the qualifying draw set for 9 October in Frankfurt.
