He staggered unsteadily, stepped off the platform momentarily, then stood up and took his place. The crowd gasped when he suddenly fell forward and landed directly shortly after.

Two men ran to his aid when his cap was blown off, revealing white hair. As police and others responded, the BBC, which was broadcasting the ceremony live, had to interrupt transmissions for a while.

Officers from the Sovereign’s Bodyguard, Household Division, or Manager Yeoman of the Tower of London are constantly on duty to guard the Queen’s coffin.
