From a Broadway actress to a TV star and now a musician and singer, Renée Rapp is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.
The 22-year-old actress released her first EP Everything for everyone in November and sold out the four-city tour in minutes. In an interview with Everybody, The sex life of college girls The star has opened up many opportunities to move into the music field.
“I said that [music] It’s been my job all my life, without actually doing it,” she said. “I was like, ‘This is it.’ I declared that I wanted to do this, I wanted to play shows, I wanted to be successful, but it wasn’t until about a week ago that I knew I could actually do it.”
Prior to his musical release, Rapp spent nearly a year on Broadway, as Regina George in Musical Mean Girls, before the pandemic. In 2021, she makes her television debut on HBO Max’s . The sex life of college girlswhere she plays Leighton Murray, a wealthy socialite college student.
The Bad girls the star said Everybody that the roles helped her write music that was right for who she is and built her foundation.
“I really wasn’t the 18-year-old I am now, and I think those jobs have definitely prepared me a lot,” she added. “I have expectations now, which is great, because now, going into my music career, I know more about myself, because I went through some bad things. .”
Rapp, who has more than 481,000 followers on Instagram, was initially nervous about releasing the music, but now says that “it definitely makes me uncomfortable, but it feels more like relief, ” after receiving positive feedback.
As for what’s next for the actress, Rapp will reprise her role as Regina George in the upcoming Paramount film. Bad girls soundtrack, along with Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho and Jaquel Spivey.
“I was very excited about that movie because I thought it would be an incubator for creativity,” she said Everybody. “It’s a great team, and there will be a lot of people that I trust. I’m so excited to work with [a team] who, I know, are looking for themselves, the cast, the crew [and] everyone who works in the best interest of the project, health, safety, mental health – everything.”
