TORONTO – The Toronto Raptors made team selections for budding sophomores Scottie Barnes, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn on Wednesday.
For Barnes, the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, it was the third-year option of his rookie contract to keep him at Toronto through the end of the 2023-24 season.
The 6-foot-8, 232-pound forward was averaging 15.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in 74 games at the start of last season.
Achiuwa and Flynn’s picks are options for the fourth-year team, also on their rookie contracts, keeping them signed through the end of the 2023-24 season.
Achiuwa was acquired from the Miami Heat before last season and averaged 9.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per night in 73 games. The 6-foot-eight striker mainly comes on from the bench but has started 28 games for Toronto.
Flynn, the Raptors’ first pick in the 2020 draft, has averaged 6.0 points and 2.3 assists in 16.1 minutes per night in 91 career games.
