Random: Unique Collection Introducing GameCube Controller Prototype
We all know how incredible the GameCube controller is, right? Oops, there’s a reason many people still prefer to use it for franchises, such as Super Smash Bros.; that is incredible. However, if you’ve seen the controller’s prototype design, you know that the original design was… different? No, that’s not the right word… Terriblewe start.
It’s odd, because in terms of form factor, very little is actually changed from prototype to final retail product, but just a glance will tell you that small changes can make a difference. makes a lot of difference. Take the width example: you can see that the prototype controller is significantly wider than the retail model, with a more prominent gap between the d-pad and c-stick. Also, the handles on the sides are more defined, making the prototype look more like a boomerang than the controller we all know and love.
If you haven’t seen it before, then you need to check out this beautiful collection from Twitter page of the console database ConsoleVariations. It not only owns one, but also five GameCube prototype controller, in addition to the GameCube development kit and firmware disc.
Pretty impressive isn’t it? If you look closely, you’ll also see a prototype N64 panel at the bottom of the image, displaying such a lovely colorway that we wish it retailed.
Your thoughts go back a few years, you may well remember that a Wii Remote and Nunchuck prototype made for GameCube, complete with a cord that plugs directly into the control panel and a sensor bar that plugs into the memory card slot. We are not sure which is cooler, the GameCube prototype or the Wii prototype..! Huh!
