When Nintendo and Game Freak announced that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will introduce the franchise’s first fully open world, fans can understand many of the questions: how openly are we talking? See that mountain? Can I go to it?
The finished article certainly lives up to Nintendo’s promise, even if it does show some rough edges in the process. The world of Paldea is truly your oyster, and for the first time in Pokémon’s 25-year history, you can go wherever you want in the first place, regardless of skill level.
Naturally, such developments in the Pokémon formula have led to a number of comparisons with other important open world games, including those like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and FromSoftware Elen’s ring. Both titles push the concept of open world design to the next level, and with Elden Ring in particular, it seems some gamers have modified the experience to make it a reality. even better.
So, if you’ve ever wondered what Pokémon Scarlet and Violet would look like with FromSoftware’s exclusive game engine, wonder no more. Twitter users @Arestame_Arkeid posted an Elden Ring mod that incorporates many of the key assets from Scarlet and Violet, including several creatures, protagonist costumes, and even a Pokémon Center.
That’s pretty wild stuff, check it out:
It’s certainly a convincing mod and could even tell what the main Pokémon games will look like in the next few years. Well, we can dream, can’t we..? Special shoutout for the Pokémon Center on the back of the Walking Tomb; Game Freak, take notes!
As for Scarlet and Violet herself, they had recently surpassed Splatoon 3’s sales in Japan and is rapidly reaching a total of 4 million units sold in the region. Worldwide, new releases Exceeded an incredible 10 million units sold within 3 days of opening. These are lucrative times for The Pokémon Company, so we expect to see bigger and better things from the franchise in the months and years to come.
