Ramiz Raja says: India vs Pakistan, World Cup T20: Pakistan commentator Shaheen Afridi is fit for clash with India, says Ramiz Raja | News about cricket

LAHORE: Pakistani fast pitcher Shaheen Afridi has progressed rapidly from a knee injury and will be “battle ready” for the opening match of the 20th World Cup against arch-rivals India this month, the country’s cricket board chief, Ramiz Raja, said.
Afridi has been sidelined since injuring his right knee ligament during a test match in Sri Lanka in July and missed the Asian Cup and home series against England.
“I had a chat with Shaheen … and he said he hasn’t felt this well in years. So progress is great,” Raja told Dawn news.
“He said he will be ready to fight soon, which is good news for us.”
The 22-year-old is Pakistan’s pacemaker, with his lightning speed and ability to make precise crosses and score points making him a fearsome pitcher.
Raja said they did not want the left winger to return to action because of how severe the knee injury was.
“The knee injury is a rather technical and delicate matter,” said the former Pakistan captain.
“We are of the opinion that we will not take the risk until he is 110% better.
“As we talked, Shaheen said, ‘I’m 110% already, so don’t worry. I will also play practice matches and will be ready for the match against India. ”
