RailTel, a PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has signed a five-year contract with a consortium led by 3i Infotech Ltd, a global information technology company based in Mumbai, a company statement said.

Other members of the consortium are Forensics Intelligence Surveillance and Security Technologies Private Limited (FIST) and Yellow Inc.

Under the contract, revenue will be generated by monetizing Wi-Fi hits at one of the world’s largest integrated public Wi-Fi networks through targeted advertising and service expansion. multimedia infotainment for train passengers.

According to the contract, the consortium led by 3i Infotech will pay $14 cores per year or 40 percent of the revenue earned (whichever is higher) for RailTel.

Revenue will come primarily from advertising and supported by content/service-based revenue, and consolidated revenue potential from the project is expected to amount to $250 crore over a 5-year period, as estimated by 3i Infotech.

RailTel’s public Wi-Fi network is now available at 6,108 stations across India and records more than 1.1 million daily users. With this partnership agreement, the station’s Wi-Fi is set to develop a digital experience for users, the statement said.
