Punjab Kings on IPL side appoint Trevor Bayliss as head coach | News about cricket

MOHALI: IPL edge Punjab Kings on Friday is appointed Trevor Bayliss as the team’s new head coach ahead of the next season of the franchise-based T20 league.
Bayliss will replace Anil Kumble after the former Indian cricketer’s contract was not renewed by the Punjab Kings following a string of poor performances by the team under his guidance.
“I am honored to be given the role of head coach of Punjab Kings. A platform franchise with a desire to succeed. I look forward to working with a talented squad of players determined to compete. compete for the silver cup”. Bayliss said in a statement released by the franchise.

Bayliss will bring his experience to win 2019 more than 50 World Cup with England, two IPL titles with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and 2014 next to a BBL title with the Sydney Sixers.
Bayliss is also the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad during the IPL 2020 and 2021 seasons.
Under Kumble’s tutelage, the Punjab Kings failed to advance to the IPL playoffs three times in a row.
