Prophet remark row: West Bengal suspends internet services in 2 more districts
After Howrah district, West Bengal government has now decided to suspend internet service in Beldanga and Murshidabad. Services in these areas will remain suspended until 6 a.m. on June 14. An official order in this regard stated, internet services have been suspended in Beldanga 1 area including Beldanga Police Station area and Beldanga 2 area including Rejinagar and Shaktipur Police Station area until 6am. the morning of June 14.
Meanwhile, internet services will remain suspended in the entire Howrah county until June 13. An Article 144 of the Penal Code has been in place in several parts of the county including Uluberia, Domjur and Panchla until June 13. June 15th.
On Friday, several parts of the district saw protests against the controversial remarks of BJP spokesman Nupur Sharma being suspended and leader Naveen Jindal deported over Prophet Mohammad. . Agitators threw stones, set police cars on fire and damaged public property.
