Porsche Panamera 2017-2021 recall due to fire risk

Porsche has issued a recall for some versions of the Panamera hatchback and wagon due to the potential fire hazard.

The recall affects the Panamera and Panamera Sport Turismos from the 2017-2021 model year, and specifically the Panamera, Panamera 4, Panamera GTS, Panamera Turbo, and Panamera Turbo S models.

A total of 24,467 examples may be affected in the United States, according to a recall notice published by NHTSA on January 27.

The problem was with the external coolant pump for the climate control system on the vehicle. In some cases, moisture can enter the pump and cause a short circuit, which in turn can lead to a fire.

The remedy requires the dealer to replace the cooling pump and check and replace the plug-in connection, if necessary. The service will be provided free of charge.

Owner’s notice letters are expected to be sent out on March 27, but anyone looking for more information can contact Porsche at 1-800-767-7243 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 (referencing campaign number 23V033000).
