CHICAGO (CBS) – Police last week were called to the home of Cook State Attorney Kim Foxx to a family incident that her husband alleges went awry and involved her slapping him, according to a police report close.

Foxx denied to police that she slapped her husband and told police she only put her hands on him in an attempt to get him out of the house.

CBS 2’s Jermont Terry spent a week researching how the police handled this distress call.

A Flossmoor police report obtained by CBS 2 said Kelley Foxx, husband of the State Attorney, called police to their home in the southern suburbs shortly after 10 p.m. last Saturday to make a report. a domestic case. Prior to arrival, a dispatcher told officers the incident was physical, but “no injuries were reported,” the report said.

Kelley and Kim Foxx were standing on the steps of the home when officers arrived, the report said. Kelley Foxx told officers his wife was angry because something he did was posted on Facebook, and that she “asked him to leave and he refused.”

He told officers that his wife “became well,” and said she had stopped him from leaving the bathroom and had grabbed him by the collar, the report said. Kelley Foxx also told police that his wife also snatched his video game controller and threw it down.

An officer reported that Kim Foxx caught her ear while her husband was recounting his story of events and she said, “All of that is true,” the police report said.

Kelley Foxx also claimed that his wife slapped him. A reporting officer asked where he was, and he said, “left cheek,” the police report said. An officer used a flashlight to examine Kelley Foxx, the report said, and did not find any redness, swelling or other signs that he had been beaten.

The officer told Kelley Foxx that there were no visible marks on him, and Kelley Foxx replied that he just wanted to be left alone, the report said.

On domestic violence calls, the officer must listen to both sides – especially the complainant. Police asked Kelley Foxx if he felt safe in the home and he said he wanted to “make sure someone understands what’s going on here,” the report said.

The officer asked Kelley Foxx for further explanation, and he said Kim Foxx was being physically aggressive and he wanted it to stop, the report said.

Meanwhile, a Flossmoor police sergeant spoke to Kim Foxx, who said she and her husband had an argument and she wanted him to leave, the report said. The sergeant then walked over to Kelley Foxx and the other officer, and Kelley Foxx repeated that he just “wanted (ed) it to stop” and said, “She can’t come into my private space and put hands on me,” the report said.

An officer also spoke to the couple’s 19-year-old daughter, who said she heard the disagreement, but saw nothing and was unable to tell what was going on, the report said.

Kelley Foxx told an officer he needed to pick up his other daughter from her workplace, and he left, the report said. Kim Foxx later said she placed her hand on the husband, but said it was “just to help guide him out of the house” and she said she never slapped him, the report said. .

The officer asked Kim Foxx if she felt safe in the house, to which she replied, “I mean, he’s not crazy,” the report said.

We submitted a public records request to Flossmoor police regarding the full report, service calls, and all body cameras the officers wore that day.

We waited, so CBS 2’s Terry went to the Flossmoor Police Department himself – because the sheriff didn’t return any of his calls.

At the police station, Terry was asked if he had filed a Freedom of Information Act request. He indicated that he had done so the day before, and also left a note for the police chef that day – as well as a note for the sheriff’s administrative assistant the day after. .

An officer at the police station said the chief has received all FOIAs and will not respond except through FOIA.

24 hours after Terry’s visit, the sheriff of Flossmoor responded. He denied releasing a full-body camera video of the incident, citing privacy – but he did release the narrative of the police report.

Kim and Kelley Foxx told officers they have been together for more than 20 years and have never had a physical relationship, and Kim Foxx said she believes her husband only called the police to hurt her, the newspaper reported. report said.

No one was arrested, and neither Kim nor Kelley Foxx chose to leave the house for the night, the report said.
