Pokémon GO’s 2023 New Year Event adds new Pokémon skins, avatar items, etc
There may still be a lot of time before Christmas when we hear this, but The Pokémon Company is looking ahead to its next big event as they announced the 2023 New Year celebration for Pokémon GO.
The event will take place from December 31, 2022, at 8:00pm passed until January 4, 2023, at 8:00 p.m (local time). During this time period, the game is set to really rock the festivities with special costumes and pose for your avatar, wild Pokémon will also appear in their splendid costumes with lots of hats and also some familiar faces that hatch from eggs.

Pokémon GO’s New Year’s Eve 2023 Event
New Pokémon
This event will see the launch of the game Pikachu wearing a party hat – with some shiny variations brought out into the wild.
On top of that, you’ll be able to get a Noctowl wears New Year’s costume by evolving Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit during the event.
Avatar items
The 2023 New Year event will bring two new avatar items, each of which can be purchased from the in-game shop. Both the Pikachu Party Hat and the Party Popper Pose will appear in the shop at the start of the event and will be there after the event ends.
There will also be themed stickers available in the meantime. These can be redeemed by spinning Poké Stops, opening gifts, or buying them from the in-game shop.

Each of the following Pokémon will be available to hatch from a 7km Egg during the event period, with Shiny variants available for each:

Field Research Tasks
There will be New Year-themed Research Quests during the event, offering Stardust as a reward for completion.

Event Bonus
The 2023 New Year event will see two Egg-based event rewards applied for the duration of the event. The first half of these halves the Hatch Distance for the eggs placed in the incubator, while the second half grants a quarter of the hatch distance for the first three Eggs to hatch in the app widget.
