PM to lay foundation stone of projects worth ₹7,800 crore in West Bengal on Friday

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and dedicate more valuable projects $7,800 crore for the country in West Bengal on Friday.

The Prime Minister will fly the Vande Bharat Express flag connecting Howrah with New Jalpaiguri from Howrah train station. The train will stop at Malda Town, Barsoi and Kishanganj stations in both directions. He will also inaugurate the Joka-Taratala section of the Purple Line of the Kolkata Metro.

On the same day, the Prime Minister will visit INS Netaji Subhas, lay flowers in memory of Netaji Subhas and inaugurate Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee – National Institute of Water and Sanitation (DSPM – NIWAS).

The Institute will serve as the highest national authority on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in the country, serving as an information and knowledge hub for Central, State and local.

The Prime Minister will chair the second meeting of the National Ganga Council. The meeting will be attended by Union Minister Jal Shakti, other Union Ministers who are members of the council and Ministers of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The National Ganga Council has been given overall responsibility for overseeing the pollution prevention and rejuvenation of the Ganga River and its tributaries.

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate 7 drainage infrastructure projects (20 Wastewater Treatment Plants and 612 km network) developed under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) at a cost of more than $990 billion VND.

The Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for five drainage infrastructure projects (8 Wastewater Treatment Plants and 80 km Network) to be developed within the framework of the National Clean Ganga Mission (NMCG) at a cost estimated fee is $1585 million.

“These projects will add 190 MLDs of new STP capacity in West Bengal. These projects will benefit North Barrackpore, Hooghly-Chinsura, Kolkata KMC- Garden Reach & Adi Ganga (Tolly Nala) areas and Mahestala town,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.
