Nominated for Best Car to Buy in 2023 by the Automotive Authority

The return of an iconic nameplate may usher in a new one Auto Agency Best car to buy winner? It can, in the form of $31,895 Built-in Acura.

The Integra has a history of cheap thrills starting in the mid-1980s. It peaked with Model GS-R 1992, has made cuts to our series of 100 important cars. But Acura dropped the name when it switched to the RSX and left a big piece of history behind.

With the new Integra, Acura has removed the tired ILX from its lineup although it has kept the improved formula based on the Honda Civic’s platform.

Integra starts with a strong foundation based on Honda Civic Si 2022and fixed most of our problems with the Honda during the upgrade. Package adds an Integra that bring back the glory of the pastaccording to Senior Editor Kirk Bell.

Every Integra is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-4 that makes 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. While the base and A-Spec models send power to the front wheels via a CVT transmission with seven simulated gear ratios, enthusiasts will want the top-of-the-line A-Spec with Technology Package for $36,895. as it opens up the option of a 6-speed manual transmission. That guidebook is a winner, with short, clear, precise throws and solid engagement. Bell called the transmission “too exciting” to ignore.

The Integra’s small improvements over its Honda brother add up to make a big difference: the Integra’s chassis is 5% stiffer and it has a larger 27mm hollow front stabilizer bar and a firmer stabilizer bar. rear solid 17.5 mm (18 mm on the A-Spec model).

The only major upgrade over the Civic Si, and the biggest downside to the sporty Civic, is the adaptive dampers that Acura installs with the Technology Pack. They settled the suspension on the highway. While the ride remains soft, body movements are controlled.

With an ultra-fast 11.52:1 ratio (base models are even faster at 11.33:1), the Integra’s steering delivers deft responses. It doesn’t feel too fast, and the Integra never sped up on the highway.

Inside, there’s seating for five, but really only four is a comfortable fit. The sport front bucket seats are reinforced and well-supported, but the low rear seat bottom and quick roofline cut into rear headroom. The standard 7.0-inch touchscreen feels a bit small, but the A-Spec model with the Technology Pack has a 9.0-inch touchscreen that features an easy-to-use tile-based interface of Civic and Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto. The hatchback body style offers 24.3 cubic feet of space and the rear seats fold almost flat to expand the cargo area.

The Built-in Acura imperfect. Manual transmission should be an option across the board. With 200 hp, it also wants power on the back road. Another 50 to 75 hp will do the trick. It’s just as powerful as the RSX Type S from 21 years ago, which says something about the lack of progress. Upcoming 2024 integrated type WILL should be neatly resolved.

Will the Integra’s charming manual transmission, streamlined suspension and responsive steering be enough to win over two sizzling hot cars, an extreme SUV, a luxury EV, and a luxury sedan? sports sedans?
