Nike suspended the partnership and halted support for Canadian Hockey as sports organizations face increasing pressure to handle alleged sexual assault cases.

Nike spokeswoman Sandra Carreon-John said the sports brand made the move because it was “deeply concerned” about the ongoing reports about Canadian Hockey.

She said Nike believes “significant and substantial” action is needed to support athletes and transform hockey for future generations.

The company will continue to monitor the situation and said it is awaiting more information on what Hockey Canada will do to assist with investigations into sexual assault cases.
