It’s an age-old dilemma of being a car enthusiast: Where can I keep all my precious things? toy vehicle? Most car enthusiasts have long conversations about their dream garage or real estate buying to build the biggest barn possible to take on every project that their heart (and bank account) goods) our wishes. But there are other options without the responsibility of taking care of that entire property where you can store, display and play with your cars: a private getaway by the track. Michigan happens to have such a club just outside of the Detroit area.

Motorsports Gateway Howell plans to break ground next month on a 273-acre facility in Howell, Michigan, as reported by the company. Detroit Free Press. Similar to waiting room M1 in Pontiac, just north of Detroit, the new auto club will boast a 2.2-mile circuit with private roadside parking apartments and a members clubhouse. The difference is that the Howell track will be 2.2 miles long compared to the 1.5 mile track of the M1 and according to the planning document HowellThe facility will include a public nature trail.

Motorsports Gateway Howell website says planned driving circuit will “follow FIA-grade safety standards” taking into account the change in altitude and surrounding natural areas. The 2.2-mile track will feature a half-mile straight, 40-foot track width and 150 mph top speed, which is projected through simulations with a 2021 Porsche 911. Configuration is expected to be completed next summer, with the track extension coming in the next phase of construction.

Members who purchase a private garage can count on ample space between neighbors on either side, as the website says it will allow natural light from the front and back of each apartment. consider the noise and privacy of the neighbors. These garages aren’t just outdoors for anyone to drive through. No, these apartments are behind secure gates — part of a gated racing community.

Great idea for those who don’t have a light wallet. Just $35,000 you will get one individual memberwith an annual fee of $7,500 in exchange for club access, 120 driving days a year minimum, two guests per day, special racetrack rentals and group driving training. Private driver training is also available. I tried to contact the developers to find out the prices for the apartments on site, but I got no response. That’s probably for the best, because if we had to ask, we might not be able to afford it.
