At the Sports Festival, on the opening day of the wrestling competitions here, Divya happily talked about her achievement and how the change in her weight class from the original 68kg to the new 76kg was applied. In the final, she defeated Rani of Himachal Pradesh ‘by-fall’.
“This is my first time competing in the 76kg weight class and soon, I will participate in this weight class. After the Birmingham CWG, I gained some extra weight, and it was very difficult to cut back. The training session was not good after the break. I think instead of losing weight, acclimating to 76kg would be ideal. So I will continue to compete in this weight class,” said Kakran, who won bronze at the 2015 Kerala National Games.
