“My man is 600 years old and he is moving forward”
Via Charles Brun: Dillian Whyte says Tyson Fury’s father John Fury tried to ruin Saturday’s fight by “trying to start something” during the confrontation during today’s final press conference in London. Whyte says he told “600 years old“John Fury”This is the day for me and your son.” to stop him from trying to steal the limelight from WBC heavyweight champion Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) in the final bout of his career.
Up until the confrontation, the press conference could not have been more casual, with Fury & Whyte talking well to each other about this and that.
But when it came to the final confrontation, John Fury lunged forward and began to pout Dillian’s lips, gesturing with his hand in an animated manner.
The way John moved forward to launch Dillian came as a surprise as Whyte didn’t say anything during the press conference. John had clearly been stewing the entire time, angry enough to chase Whyte at the most important point of the press conference.
This Saturday, Fury and Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs) will meet in the main event at the sold-out Wembley Stadium in London, England.
If Whyte fails to beat Fury, he will go on to face the winner of a July 23 rematch between IBF/WBA/WBO Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua for the undisputed title.
If Fury wins on Saturday, he has been told he will retire. As for his WBC title, it will be vacant and the World Boxing Council will order the two top-ranked contenders to fight for it.
“Tyson Fury’s father needs to relax. My man 600 years old and he’s moving forward, and they’re trying to keep my boys off the stage,” said Dillian of his exchange of words with John Fury during his encounter with Tyson on stage.
“I have said to him, ‘Hey, John, calm down, you’re an adult, you continue to scream and scream, like a child. Today is me & Tyson day, relax. Why did you join? This is the day of me and your son. ‘
He always tries to get in front of his son. ‘You’re an old man, calm down.’ John Fury is trying to start something, and it’s stupid because it’s a big fight.
“He wants to rob the fans90, 90,000 fans out of the fight. John Fury is an idiot. He is a real IDIOT. I’m good, I’m a professional. I’m fine.
“No, because he knows me, he knows the danger I possess and he knows me,” Dillian said when asked if he was surprised at how respectful Fury was.
“He knew me and he talked a lot, but in reality, I knew it was going to be like that, so it was all good,” Dillian said.
