Mumbai girl Anishka Biyani wins gold medal Malaysian Chess Meet | Chess News
MUMBAI: Six years old Anishka Biyani won the gold medal in Malaysia Age Group Rapid Chess Championship in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
Anishka, a first grader of Dhirubhai Ambani Schoolachieved the feat in the Under-6 Open with an impressive four points out of six possible to claim the title in the women’s category.
Participants from eight countries took part in the competition.
Earlier this year, Anishka also qualified as one of the best under-7 players in the All India Championship. FIDE ranked chess tournament held in Yousufguda, Hyderabad.
“Anishka is incredibly talented and this is her first major international win where she competes against the best players from around the world. It’s good for her that she will play more such events in the future,” SMCA coach Durga Nagesh Guttula said in a release.
Anishka’s mother Tanushri Biyani was overjoyed and thanked her coach for his best efforts in training and taking care of her.
Anishka is currently preparing for the Singapore Open National Age Group Championships scheduled for later this year.
