More than 200 Texas state troopers could face consequences if they don’t step down by December, records show

There is no polite way to say this, but Texas believes there are too many state soldiers too large to serve.

Hundreds of them are being ordered to lose weight by December, or face discipline, According to a report from Chron.

The material was first obtained by Dallas Morning News revealed that soldiers must hit their weight loss goals by the end of the year to remain eligible for promotions, raises, and overtime.

Men are said to have waists under 40 inches and women are said to have waists less than 35 inches as part of a “Presence of Command” rule built into the overall fitness and appearance code of Ministry.

More than 200 soldiers were reported unsatisfactory.

According to the documents, state soldiers must pass the Individual Fitness Test and the Command Presence Test by December 1.

Soldiers who do not pass will be placed on a Physical Improvement Plan, with recommendations to improve their physical health.

Fitness test requirements vary from department to department. Soldiers were rated on a percentile scale tied to their performance on a number of physical tests.

They can choose between a rowing test, a standard test that includes running, or a combat fitness assessment.

Soldiers must perform at the 70th percentile or higher for their age group to pass.

Eg, according to Chron, a 30-year-old male officer must be able to run 1.5 miles in 11 minutes 42 seconds to reach the 70th percentile needed to pass his PFT. A 30-year-old female officer must run the same distance in 15 minutes, 21 seconds to reach the required percentage.

In 2019, the Texas Department of Public Safety Officers Association sued the DPS over the waist circumference requirement, calling it discriminatory and unfair to healthy officers of “fitness”. big”.

According to the report, 213 soldiers out of about 4,000 state-recruited had fallen short of the ministry’s waistline requirements as of April. Only two of them failed the fitness test.
